I was very much the dominant partner in my marriage. I thought that was my nature. I've found though that it is not. I took the dominant role out of necessity due to a lack of trust in my husband.
In my current relationship the power is shared and flows back and forth depending on the issue at hand. There is total trust so I can let go of the power and don't feel the need to dominate. Does that make sense to anyone but me?
I think this is COMPLETELY a trust issue-- well, for me it is. If I cannot trust a man, I will not allow him to have that type of control in the bedroom, or anywhere, for that matter. I've always had this latent fantasy that a man (that I trust implicitly...) would just "take" me. Of course, I would allow it, but the man would initiate all of this, and would lead. I've always been the dominant partner in my relationships, in all aspects. I do not like another taking the lead unless I request it or it's necessary for that moment. Even within my family I am more the matriarch than my mom.
Sexually, I have a wide variety of interests but more often I am the dominant partner. I like it rough, I like it intimate, I like it romantic, I like it wild. Mixed up or individually.

Well...VA...I come from a family of strong women too. I have to admit I do like to be the more dominant one in a relationship and I attract quieter more submissive men.
I tend to "take the wheel" if I am with someone more passive but I also enjoy it when a man takes control too.
As far as being sexually rough.....that's a secret...LOL
