I was wondering how others felt about driving to someone they've met online. How far would you be willing to drive? Would you drive the whole distance? Would you be willing to meet at a half way point?
I was curious having heard that gas prices will continue to rise and no relief is expected in the near future. Personally, it would depend on where the person is located. Out of state, I can not do. Over 50 miles, again that would depend on location.
So tell me what you would do!

Well I traveled across the world to meet someone. All the way from Australia to America. We have been talking for almost 7 years. This has been the best thing i have ever done in my life. I believe him to be the love of my life!
Having a long distance relationship IS HARD but when it comes to being together finally it is SOOOOO worth it in the long run!!!

I have been in a long distance relationship for a little over three years. As of March, we decided to live together, since he is now only 2 hours away. It is working fine. We live in his city and I still have the job that I had when we first met. I commute two hours each way everyday and so far, it is working out really well. He is all that I ever wanted in a man, we love one another very much and we feel that we are one another's "soul mate". It is working fine. We live in his city and I still have the job that I had when we first met. I commute two hours each way everyday and so far, it is working out really well. He is all that I ever wanted in a man, we love one another very much and we feel that we are one another's "soul mate". But getting to this point in our relationship was not easy.
There were many times when we really needed to be with one another--times when talking over the phone was not enough and one of us desperately needed a hug for encouragement. The distance was too great for those times.
There was also the wear that travel took on our bodies. The weekends and holidays that we spent together were great but it took me at least a couple of days afterward to get back on track. It was the same for him. And being so tired after our visits with one another we would just feel sad that we weren't together every day. In fact, while he drove me to the Greyhound station, we would practically drive in silence because we would both be so sad to part from one another. We never got used to saying good bye to one another.
After being on the emotional rollercoaster of a long distance relationship, I would not try to dissuade anyone from starting one.
Thank God Don was worth the trouble!! less...

I have you all beat. I flew from New Jersey to Texas to meet someone from this site. We had a wonderful weekend, went to dinner, the zoo, he bought me a rose. I went home and after a few more phone calls he said he couldn't "do" a long distance relationship. Gee, you would think he could have said that BEFORE I flew there! Live and learn. These days I would think twice about it, especially since the increased costs.

I've met, over the past 7 years, 26 men face to face. I will meet then half way - in a public place like a book store.
If the guy drives to me then I pay for dinner. As you said, with the gas prices being on the rise it's only fair to share the costs for a good cause :-)

It is hard to have along distance relationship especially when the other person doesn't have a car. I know from experience.

I have drove 10 hours to see someone. It was 4 years ago and we are still friends, and talk online almost daily. But, I would rather date someone who lives with in my county. I think it would be very hard to have a long distance relationship.
